AANN Spinal Surgery Clinical Practice Guidelines
Got questions about best practices for the care of adult patients with spinal surgery? The American Association of Neuroscience Nurses has recently published an extensive review of the issues. This FREE 58-page document may be more than you want to consume from cover to cover, but the first table summarizes and answers common care questions. The rest of the document provides detailed information about the supporting research. If you care for spinal surgery patients, this is a great resource for up-to-date practice information.

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month
The US CDC has designated each March as Brain Injury Awareness month. Healthcare providers who work with trauma patients become familiar with acute injuries, but brain trauma can have long-lasting effects. Check out this information on chronic traumatic encephalopahty (CTE) from the Mayo Clinic. Do you know of anyone with these symptoms?

Have You Checked the RESOURCES Tab Lately?
TCAR Education Programs has recently added another very helpful clinical resource tool on Acute Kidney Injury. If you struggle with remembering the differences between prerenal, intrarenal, and postrenal failure then this comparison chart is just what you need! Download your very own copy from the RESOURCES tab on the TCAR website homepage (www.tcarprograms.org). For a British English/SI version, switch to the UK home page (tcarprogrammes.org) and find the Acute Kidney Injury table by selecting the RESOURCES tab > LEARNER RESOURCES.
